Complex Church Leadership (CCL) Certificate

In 2026 Morling College, in partnership with Healthy Vibrant Communities Ltd, is piloting a new form of ministry training and pastoral professional learning: the Morling College Complex Church Leadership Certificate.

Complex Church Leadership (CCL) Certificate is a one-year experience that equips participants to serve as leaders and core team members for churches that have multiple enterprises or businesses.

It is for anyone who is exploring a new model, such as:

Operating as a church in a missional context including with one of several businesses including a child care centre, a school, a café, a sports centre, a medical centre, a community centre, and so on
A multi-site church structure for revitalising an older congregation, or starting a church plant in addition to an existing church.

Professional Learning

The Certificate includes three modules: two modules each centred on four of the principles of the text: Leading Hybrid Churches, and one on the spiritual formation of pastors and leaders in complex local church environments. Morling is pleased that this content is offered, not as a formal academic award, but as a focus on professional learning for pastors, recognising the pressures and priorities they carry. The College is keen to explore not just the content, but the process of deeper and practical professional learning to help pastors engage with this important topic in the midst of their busy schedules.

How the certificate will run

CCL Certificate is a part-time year-long programme, which begins in February each year. You will study as part of a cohort. You will have access to facilitated monthly cohort video meetings for the length of your enrolment. Activities from each module can be tailored to the CCL model, making it relevant to your complex church context.
